Healthy is….

“Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”

According to the Preamble to the Constitution of the World Health Organization that was adopted by the International Health Conference, New York, 19-22 June, 1946; signed on 22 July 1946 by the representatives of 61 States (Official Records of the World Health Organization, no. 2, p. 100) and entered into force on 7 April 1948, this is THE definition of health.

According to us?

Health is simply a state of feeling your best due to being strong in both PHYSICAL and MENTAL health. Being physically healthy means you get proper rest, exercise adequately, and eat a variety of nutritious foods. Having a healthy body weight, muscular strength, respiratory endurance, and abstaining from drug and alcohol abuse are all factors that lead to proper physical health. Being mentally healthy is a very subjective topic.  I found this great definition that sounds right on to us: “a state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community”.

No matter how you slice it, or define it- Healthy leads to happy! This blog is not to inform our readers how to get “skinny” or “hot” but how to get HEALTHY. There is a difference. If becoming healthy leads to you getting skinny and hot- then awesome!!! Just know that being healthy is so much more about not only a way of life but a way to prolong your life. And I mean, come on- who doesn’t want to live longer??? We can’t all be like the Cullens and live forever (yup, I’m a Twilight fan- don’t judge), but we definitely would love to live as long as we can.

So what is healthy??

It’s knowing and accepting that your body is your temple and that it should be treated as such! Take care of it, it’s the only one you have 🙂
